1305 M. Street Northwest,

Washington District of ColumbiaJuly 3, 1920.

My dear old chum,

I think of and pray for you every day,and needless to say, you have all the sympathy of my heart during your hours of anxiety and despair. I have gone through just what you are experiencing now and I know from the bottom of my heart what it is and means. But remember, God knows best and He will be with you, care for you, and love you all the way through if you will only trust Him and lean

The left side of page 1 says:

By the way, I have seen Reverend Reed too funny I invited him to din- ner on Tuesday at  and he came at , almost running — it was an awful hot day, I guess the heat was too much for the old gentleman. I had to laugh. He preached in the Methodist African Methodist Episcopal Church two weeks ago and in Alexandria last Sunday. Now, Eartha, dear girl, do get someone to write letting me know how dear Mamma White is — kiss her for me and give her my love. Am looking for a word soon . Lovingly yours,

Annie

on Him. (2) He will raise friends to surround you and cause prayers to be sent up in supplication for you both at home and away from home. Be strong and do not give up. God will take care of you. Re-member I am always your friend.

Mrs. Mann, Miss Johnson and all my folks as well as all the beaux you captured while up here send love and wishes for a speedy recovery of Mama White. Well, our school's closed on the twenty-eighth of June and you talk about a mess — they were in one grand mess & muddle, so much so that I fear somebody is going to get hurt bodily.

The Board of Education has acted [illegible] and the money that is being spent to cover up the dirt — I wish I had some of it — not in that way though. It is a disgrace to the entire nation, say nothing of the capital city. Give my love to everybody in Jacksonville.
